Sports Concussion Clinic

The Sports Concussion Clinic at the South Shore Hospital is for athletes ages 18 and younger, who sustain a sports related concussion.

The clinic is run by Janet Kent, MD. Dr. Kent is board certified Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She has worked with patients with brain injuries for over ten years. Dr. Kent is a CIC — Certified ImPACT Consultant.

The clinic is held on Tuesday afternoons in the Outpatient Rehabilitation Department with appointments being booked in half hour intervals. Call 781-624-8162 to book a Concussion Clinic Appointment.

ImPACT

In most cases, a patient has ImPACT neurocognitive testing prior to meeting with Dr. Kent.  An ImPACT test can be scheduled by calling the neurosensory department at 781-624-8213 to book an appointment.  It can usually be arranged for the same day or days prior to the appointment at the clinic so results can be discussed with the patient and their parent and/or guardian during the visit.

Sometimes an athlete may need additional therapy in order to help them return to the field. South Shore Hospital has two physical therapists who are specially trained to treat this patient population.
