The Hospice team provides caring and compassionate physical care, and emotional and spiritual comfort.

Nurses

Our hospice manager, a registered nurse with extensive experience in treating life-limiting diseases, leads a team of hospice nurses, each with expertise in pain control and symptom management. Nurses are responsible for providing the primary components of the team's care, including assessing, treating, and coordinating services.

Physicians

The patient's personal physician works with the Hospice team members to prescribe treatment and to provide continuing medical direction. Additionally, our own Hospice physicians can serve as medical advisors to the Hospice team, and can consult with a patient's personal physician as needed.

Volunteers

Volunteers are an integral part of the Hospice team, spending time with patients and their families to visit, listen, lend a hand with daily tasks, or provide respite for primary caregivers.

Therapists

Other services, such as physical, occupational, and speech therapists and a nutrition counselor, are readily available as needed.

Home Health Aides

Home health aides assist with personal care needs, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and providing respite for family members.

Medical Social Worker

Our medical social workers provide support for the patient and family, offering reassurance, insight, and understanding about the impact of disease progression. They also provide advice on accessing community resources and financial planning.

Chaplain

Because spiritual concerns frequently arise during serious illness, our Hospice program offers non-denominational pastoral support for the patient and family.

Bereavement Care

Our care does not end with the patient's death. Hospice team members continue to stay in contact with the family for up to a year, to help them adjust to their loss and sort out emotions. In addition, we offer bereavement support programs for both adults and children.  Call 781-794-7803 for information about out bereavement programs or visit our Calendar of Events for support group listings.
