South Shore Hospital's mammography services are designed to provide the comfort and privacy during your breast health exam. The professional staff - all women - will offer individual teaching of breast self-examination. They will candidly and attentively address your questions and concerns.
All mammograms are performed with advanced medical equipment. Each exam is interpreted by two board-certified radiologists on South Shore Hospital's medical staff.

Breast Care Center
South Shore Hospital's Breast Care Center is offered in affiliation with Brigham and Women's Hospital. It is conveniently located at the Stetson Center, 2 West Street, South Weymouth, adjacent to South Shore Hospital's Mammography Center — just two blocks north of South Shore Hospital's main campus at 55 Fogg Road.
Our Center provides advanced care to those who have already been diagnosed with a breast condition. Our mission is to provide timely, supportive, expert care for benign and malignant diseases of the breast, and to provide patients with access to innovative local, regional and national clinical trials. A physician referral is required to become a Breast Care Center patient. Please contact your primary care physician for more details, especially if you have a new breast problem.
The Center's medical director is Suniti Nimbkar,MD, a board-certified surgeon who has dedicated her practice exclusively to patients with breast disease. Joining Dr. Nimbkar as associate director is Beth Ann Lesnikoski, MD. Dr. Lesnikoski is a fellowship-trained breast surgeon, who is also affiliated with Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women's Hospital. Also staffing the Breast Care Center are Katherina Zabicki Calvillo, MD, who is a board-certified, fellowship-trained breast surgeon at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Dana Farber Cancer Institute and South Shore Hospital, with a teaching appointment at Harvard Medical School and Leslie Leveille, NP, a nurse practitioner who specializes in breast care.
South Shore Hospital's Breast Care Center focuses on patients with surgical breast problems, elevated risk of developing breast cancer, and/or a new or past diagnosis of breast cancer. Specific services include:
- New cancer diagnosis
- Breast abscess requiring drainage
- Findings suspicious for cancer on primary care physical exam or breast imaging
- Recommendation for stereo tactic biopsy (prior to stereo tactic appointment)
- Recommendation for surgical biopsy
- Painful cyst requiring aspiration, depending on the severity of pain
- New breast mass
- Low suspicion for breast cancer on primary care exam or imaging
- Pre-menopausal patient, mass persists post-menstrually
- Any post-menopausal patient with a new breast mass
- Unilateral nipple discharge without suspicious findings on exam or imaging
- Pre-menopausal patient, with nodularity on primary care exam; symptoms wax and wane with menses, but no dominant mass or suspicious findings or imaging
- Screening exams for elevated risk due to family history or prior history of atypical ductal hyperplasia, atypical lobular hyperplasia, or lobular carcinoma in situ.

South Shore Hospital also offers specialized rehabilitation services for those with breast cancer.
Aquatic Exercise Program
Learn ways to improve flexibility, decrease pain and stiffness, and improve self-esteem by participating in warm water exercise. Designed for all women including those who have had a mastectomy. Monday and Wednesday from 6:45-7:30 p.m. Cost is $50. Call 781-340-8177 for information.
