Be a Friend
It’s easy to become a member of The Friends. Any person interested in advancing the mission of South Shore Hospital may become a member of the Friends. Consistent with the mission and policies of the hospital, membership in The Friends is available without regard to race, gender, age, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, or sexual orientation.
Membership Types
You may select one of two membership types:
Annual Membership or Life Membership
Annual Membership dues are $25 a year, payable by September 30. Life Membership dues are $250, paid once.
Individuals who are South Shore Hospital volunteers may qualify for automatic membership in The Friends of South Shore Hospital. Volunteer Annual Membership in The Friends is offered to those persons who annually donate to the hospital a minimum of 400 hours of service. Volunteer Life Membership in The Friends is offered to those who have cumulatively donated to the hospital a minimum of 2,000 hours of service. Please speak with a volunteer program staff member for more details.

- Free subscription to Focus on Friends newsletter. This newsletter is full of information about events and opportunities for involvement in hospital programs.
- Free subscription to
southshorehospital.org, the journal for your health and
healthy living. - Advance notification of other hospital events of interest to you and your family.
- Periodic discounts on selected items at the Cottage Shop and Friendly Shop.
- Discounts on selected South Shore Hospital seminars, classes and health programs.
- Daily complimentary newspaper when you are hospitalized.
- A complimentary meal coupon for one visitor when you are hospitalized.
- Complimentary television and phone service after three nights of hospitalization at South Shore Hospital.
- Discounts at over 70 participating area merchants, such as dry cleaners, travel agencies, cinemas, wholesale shopping clubs, salons, amusements parks, restaurants and other retailers.
