South Shore Hospital has been conducting clinical research for more than 30 years. There are approximately 50 clinical studies active at the Hospital. South Shore Hospital earned full accreditation for its Human Research Protection Program in 2009 and earned re-accreditation in 2012.
Mission - The mission of the Human Research Protection Program is to protect the rights and welfare of subjects involved in human research that is conducted or overseen by SSH and to promote, facilitate, and support research consistent with the Hospital’s mission
Vision - The Human Research Protection Program, together with employees and colleagues of South Shore Hospital, will:
- Safeguard the rights and welfare of the human subjects who participate in the research process
- Promote and support the highest ethical standards for the conduct of human research
- Engage in research activities that further the strategic goals of the hospital
- Provide education and outreach to people interested in research to continue to attract outstanding talent
