Selected Highlights

Medical Care

Three quality health care options give you the flexibility to select coverage that's appropriate to your needs. Plan features include coverage for medical services delivered in either a hospital, emergency care facility, or physician's office. Prescription drugs and chiropractic services are also covered.  Our medical plans are managed by Harvard Pilgrim.

Dental Care

This plan emphasizes preventative and diagnostic care. Important plan features include a generous reimbursement for basic and major restorative procedures and orthodontia for dependents.  Our dental plan is administered by Delta Dental.

Medical and dental care premiums are paid primarily by the hospital. Employee contributions are payroll-deducted on a before-tax basis, which further reduces employee cost.

Life Insurance

South Shore Hospital provides no-cost basic life insurance coverage at up to twice the annual salary for full-time and part-time employees. Supplemental coverage for employees, spouses and children is available at competitive rates.

Retirement Savings Plan (403 B)

All employees are eligible to contribute on a pre-tax basis, a portion of pay up to the IRS maximum allowance.  South Shore Hospital matches 0.50 cents on every dollar up to the
first 6% of pay.  All voluntary matching contributions are fully vested.

South Shore Hospital also makes a core contribution annually for any/all employees that worked at least 1,000 hours in a calendar year.  This contribution is based on service and age, and is subject to a 3 year vesting requirement.

Flexible Spending Accounts for Medical and Dependent Care Needs

A health care account pays for eligible medical care expenses, up to $2,000, which are not covered under medical or dental plans. Additionally, up to $5,000 can be used for dependent care expenses, including care relating to elderly parents or disabled children.  The funds for these critical expenses are payroll deducted on a before-tax basis.

Long Term Disability Insurance

If you become disabled and unable to work, South Shore Hospital provides free income protection coverage equaling 60 percent of base earnings. Eligibility is 180 days after the onset of the disability. Further protection is available through our discounted employee-paid disability insurance program.

HIV Insurance

No-cost HIV insurance coverage equals $50,000 for all employees. Supplemental coverage is employee-paid and available in $50,000 increments to a maximum of $250,000. Plan coverage is limited to occupational exposure.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

EAP helps employees and family members with confidential counseling and referral services to address personal issues.

Tuition Assistance

Your new career at South Shore Hospital won't require you to discontinue your education.
We value the professional growth that college level courses provide. With approval, classes relating to principal work assignment and contributing to effectiveness in a current or future position are reimbursable.

Vacation Time

A minimum three weeks vacation for full-time positions. Pro-rated vacation allotments for part-time employees.
